AMARONE CLASSICO RISERVA 'CAPITEL MONTE OLMI' TEDESCHI 2017 DESCRIPTION

Amarone Classico Riserva 'Capitel Monte Olmi' from the renowned Veneto winery Tedeschi constitutes a fine label capable of masterfully combining elegance and power. 'Monte Olmi' represents the name of the vineyard from which the grapes come, located in Pedemonte di Valpolicella, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The rows are arranged on terraces that make cultivation operations more agile given the high slope of the land, a territorial characteristic that contributes to the parcel's exceptional viticultural vocation. In the 1960s, Renzo Tedeschi realized the greater aptitude of this plot and decided to vinify the grapes separately, thus giving rise to one of the first cru in all of Valpolicella.

Tedeschi Amarone Classico Riserva 'Capitel Monte Olmi' consists of an equivalent blend of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone and Rondinella, to which is added 10% Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina. The vines, about 20 years old on average, rest on soils of morainic origin, consisting mainly of red clay and limestone. Following manual harvesting and careful selection, the clusters are placed to dry in fruit lofts for 4 months in a controlled environment, at the end of which soft crushing and alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature, accompanied by 40-60 days of contact between the must and marc. Subsequent ageing of 4 years takes place in large Slavonian oak casks and is followed by at least 6 months of further rest in bottles.

'Capitel Monte Olmi' Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva has an intense and consistent ruby red color. The nose expands on vivid perceptions of cherry, raspberry, red currant, rose and dried flowers, enhanced by complex and refined balsamic and spicy hints. Elegant, warm and robust on the palate, where the imposing structure is well balanced by fresh-sappy verve and soft tannins.
