BARBERA RISERVA 'FINE DEL MONDO' I CARPINI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Riserva 'End of the World' is a concentrated, powerful and articulate Barbera made by Piedmont's artisanal winery I Carpini. It is a bottle produced only in the best vintages following a lengthy process. The Alexandrian winery I Carpini operates according to a production vision defined as "organic-holistic," which sees the vineyard as a small part of a larger ecosystem, within which all elements coexist in balance and harmony, in a context founded on biodiversity. The label's name derives from the statement that tasting this red leads one to exclaim, "It's the end of the world!".

I Carpini Riserva 'End of the World' Barbera is a pure expression of the grape variety of the same name, grown on clay-limestone soils at 330-340 meters above sea level. The vineyard of origin, planted in 1926, is managed organically. Manual harvesting, with careful sorting of overripe bunches, is followed by alcoholic fermentation operated by indigenous yeasts only, with about 30 days of contact between the must and skins. The wine is then elevated for 24 months in steel tanks on fine lees, followed by at least one year of bottle ageing before release.

Barbera Riserva's 'End of the World' from the artisanal winery I Carpini is deep ruby red in colour. The olfactory panorama emerges rich and complex, dominated by notes of ripe red fruit and sweet spices, while in the mouth, it is warm and robust, dense and articulate, with soft tannins that anticipate the long final persistence. A genuine and authentic Barbera, an excellent accompaniment to structured dishes such as stewed meats with polenta.
