Cannonau Riserva 'Josto Miglior' Jerzu 2019

The Cannonau Riserva 'Josto Miglior' represents one of the most representative labels of the Antichi Poderi Jerzu winery, a Sardinian cooperative located in Ogliastra, in the southwest of the island. This bottle belongs to the 'Founder' selection, a line dedicated to three delicious Cannonau wines that pay tribute to the founding fathers. Among them, the 'Josto Miglior' Reserve pays homage to the doctor of the same name who, in 1950, brought together small producers from the town of Jerzu, starting this noble winemaking project aimed at enhancing the Ogliastra area.

Antichi Poderi Jerzu Cannonau Riserva 'Josto Miglior' is a pure Cannonau derived from a selection of the best grapes grown on predominantly sandy white soils in the Mediterranean climate of Ogliastra, traversed by constant sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The harvest is followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins, and the subsequent fermentation period takes place for 8 months also in steel for an additional 12 months in oak barrels. After bottling, the wine ages for at least one year in the glass before final release.

'Josto Miglior' Cannonau Riserva from Antichi Poderi Jerzu has a consistent ruby red hue. The aromatic range opens on intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, geranium, Mediterranean scrub, pink pepper and tobacco, joined by balsamic and vanilla hints. Soft, full and deep on the palate, with elegant tannins joining the savoury-mineral background in a long, savoury finish. 'Josto Miglior' is a structured Cannonau that pairs beautifully with red meat preparations, game or venison, stewed or roasted, as well as with long-aged cheeses.
