The Domaine de la Pinte winery is located in the heart of the Jura, which is a border area that connects Dijon to Switzerland and that has always suffered the competition of the prestigious neighbouring Burgundy. This area, considered one of the most extreme for the cultivation of vines, is also one of the least explored in France, despite the prestigious soils composed of blue marl and the special techniques of vinification in drained barrels. Here, between the towns of Arbois and Pupillin, Domaine de la Pinte planted its roots in 1953. Today, with its 34 hectares of vines, 17 of which are dedicated solely to the cultivation of the Savagnin, the reigning grape of the Jura, it is one of the most symbolic wineries on the scene and the largest Savagnin estate. The founder is Roger Martin, a geologist and wine enthusiast, who challenged the great French wines and believed in the potential of this terroir, initially investing in 14 hectares to cultivate exclusively Savagnin grapes. Today, Pierre Martin leads the estate and has decided to focus on sustainable and respectful agriculture, drawing on the advice of enologist Bruno Ciofi, who was a schoolmate of the father of biodynamics, Nicolas Joly. This has resulted in the creation of territorial wines that are straightforward and sincere, offering a real taste of the Jura.

The Domaine de la Pinte winery is situated on a strip of land at an altitude of 400 metres that runs through the towns of Arbois and Chateau Chalon. The climate is semi-continental and is influenced to a small extent by ocean currents. The soil is characterised by blue, grey and black marls with limestone and fossils, indicating that this land was submerged by the sea hundreds of millions of years ago. In addition to the Savagnin grape, the Domaine also cultivates two local red grape varieties, Pulsard and Trousseau, and the noble international Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The land has been organically cultivated since 1999 and since 2009 the estate has converted to biodynamics. The approach is based on a non-interventionist philosophy that prohibits all forms of chemical use in the vineyard to preserve the integrity of the soil. In the cellar, a very attentive method is also followed, favouring spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in pièce, while avoiding filtration, clarification and invasive processes.

In addition to the Vin Jaune, which is made from oxidative vinification in drained barrels and aged in wood for six years, the winery's aromatic and fragrant white wines based on the Savagnin grape are certainly worth mentioning. The other wines display a rustic and wild character, which is the result of maceration and ageing in wood. In this area, which has become very fashionable in recent years, the Domaine produces authentic and typical bottles that, more than any other region, are characterised by a great and unique territorial identity.
