FRANCIACORTA BRUT SATEN MOSNEL 2019 DESCRIPTION

Mosnel's Franciacorta Brut Saten was born in the heart of Franciacorta. The long winemaking tradition involving the work of the Barboglio family began in 1836 with the planting of the first vineyards of native grapes. More than a century later, 1968 saw the adoption of the newly created Franciacorta DOC, and by 1976 the winery's name became Mosnel, a word of Celtic origin meaning "pietraia," the place where the current building stands. Today the fifth generation is at work: Giulia is engaged in the commercial branch, and Lucia is dedicated to marketing and public relations. The staff is completed by experienced and competent agronomists and oenologists who assist in the project of carrying out quality work and paying attention to every single detail.

The pure Chardonnay grapes in Mosnel's Franciacorta Brut Saten come from vineyards that cover about 41 hectares entirely planted with vines, which in turn are divided into 18 plots. They are completely cultivated following the dictates of the organic method. The soil is composed of moderately deep layers of limestone and clay; the exposure is east/southeast, with good sun exposure for much of the year. The grapes are harvested manually in crates, usually between August 10 and 17; in the winery, the vinification is by the white method with separation of the first and second pressing. Selected yeasts trigger alcoholic fermentation partly in steel and partly in barrique. The Cuvée is assembled in the spring with the addition of liqueur de tirage, followed by bottling. It rests on the lees for 36 months and an additional 3 months in the bottle before release.

To the eye, Mosnel's Franciacorta Brut Saten presents a golden yellow with bright and intense reflections. The aromas are reminiscent of tangerine, candied ginger, notes of toasted caramel and butter, along with the characteristic crust of freshly baked bread. On the palate, it presents a fine and persistent perlage, sharp and biting minerality balanced by the creaminess of the sip that recalls glass after glass. In pairing, it is recommended with light and fresh cream-based appetizers, smoked salmon and fresh cheeses; also excellent with pasta dishes dressed with shellfish and molluscs and seasonal vegetable dishes. Perfect for accompanying family celebrations and festivities, unburdening a product that is the fruit of a centuries-old tradition in the world of winemaking.
