GEWURZTRAMINER CANTINA TERLANO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Cantina Terlano's Gewurztraminer is a wine made from aromatic Gewurztraminer grapes. A grape variety named after the village of Tramin in the lower Atesina region, it has always been a pillar of the region's winemaking tradition. Protected from cold winds by the peaks of the Alps, the vines enjoy a good range of temperatures between day and night that promotes perfect development of the aromas within the berry and that elegance that is hard to forget.

Cantina Terlano's story with its Gewurztraminer begins between 270 and 900 meters above sea level in a small basin nestled in the mountains of the upper Adige Valley, with predominantly southern or southwestern exposure where sand, clay and silica give character and longevity to this extraordinary white wine. Harvesting begins with the manual selection of the clusters, and then, once in the cellar, a gentle whole-cluster crushing takes place. Fermentation takes place slowly at a controlled temperature inside stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing from 5 to 7 months on fine yeasts also in stainless steel.

Cantina Terlano's Gewurztraminer presents itself to the glass with a brilliant straw yellow, brought to the nose scents of lychee and tropical fruit cheer the nostrils also stimulated by a light spice reminiscent of clove. A delicate rose, a typical marker of this varietal, closes. As soon as it is sipped, what is surprising is the consistency with the olfactory notes. Liveliness and freshness compose a sip that is also striking for its mineral notes, thus creating a full and persistent aftertaste. This Gewurztraminer is a rich wine ambassador of a proud and lively wine identity of a region that has always been amazed by the quality and variety of the wines that, in the presence of the Alps, it gives us.
