Greco di Tufo 'Giallo d'Arles' Magnum Quintodecimo 2022

Quintodecimo

"Giallo d'Arles" is a Greco di Tufo intense, rich and complex, aged in steel and barrique. It has a yellow color so deep and bright it is reminiscent of Van Gogh's Sunflowers, painted in Arles. The aromas evoke peach, summer yellow fruit, honey and dried fruit. The taste is full and intense, balanced and persistent. An absolute magnum reference in its type!

GRECO DI TUFO 'GIALLO D'ARLES' MAGNUM QUINTODECIMO 2022 DESCRIPTION

"Giallo d'Arles" is the structured and mature Greco interpreted by Quintodecimo, an expression of the powerful solar intensity and extreme chromatic concentration that one of Irpinia's symbolic varietals is capable of encapsulating. A white wine of great relevance that bears on its label a dedication to a giant of world art: the name cannot help but make us think of that painted room and all those canvases of evident yellow tenor made in Arles and the French midi by Vincent Van Gogh.

The Greco grapes that Quintodecimo vinifies to make "Giallo d'Arles" come from a vineyard that is identified with the very same name of the label and that extends in Contrada Santa Lucia, within the area of the municipality of Tufo, deep in the territory of Irpinia. The vineyard was planted in the year 2001 above a soil characterized by a composition of clay and limestone at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level and oriented with a southwest exposure. Harvesting is done by hand at the time of full aromatic ripeness of the fruit, around the second decade of October, with harvesting in 15-kilo crates. In the winemaking cellar in Mirabella Eclano, whole bunches are slowly pressed: the draining must, protected from oxygen, is left to clarify by natural decantation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel vats for 70% of the mass and in new oak barrels for the remainder. Ageing is prolonged for a period of 8 months in steel on fine lees, strictly kept in suspension, and bottled without clarification in order to preserve its emblematic colour.

"Giallo d'Arles" from Quintodecimo presents a sparkling and decidedly intense golden hue. The nose has great depth and is expressed in the tones of a ripe and juicy yellow fruitiness: melon, apricot and peach meet notes of jammy quince and an impressive mineral endowment. The structure is confirmed on the palate of remarkable depth and richness, offering a powerful and, at the same time, refined mouthfeel, balanced by saline textures and incessant freshness, with a crisp finish and long persistence.
