'Griddu Verde' Dos Tierras Badalucco 2022

'Griddu Verde' Dos Tierras Badalucco 2022

Dos Tierras - Badalucco De La Iglesia Garcia

"Griddu Verde" is a white wine with a marine and solar profile, macerated on the skins for 5-10 days. Born from the idea of the winery to create a union between Spanish and Sicilian wine culture, joining the Grillo, native of Trapani, to Verdejo, a Spanish white grape. The first brings depth, intensity and a typical Marsala note while the Spanish grape gives freshness and tension, for an elegant, balanced and very expressive result

'GRIDDU VERDE' DOS TIERRAS BADALUCCO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Griddu Verde Dos Tierras Badalucco is a marriage of sea, pulp and sun, an ideal meeting point between Spain and Sicily. In fact, this multifaceted and nuanced white wine is the result of the union between Pierpaolo, Sicilian by birth, and Beatriz, a Spaniard from Seville, who returned to the island to manage family vineyards located near Petrosino, a small village overlooking the sea, halfway between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. A fusion that can also be seen in the grape varieties chosen to produce this label, namely Grillo, an indigenous vine among the most representative of the Trapani area, and Verdejo, a Spanish variety that has adapted perfectly to the Sicilian climate. In the vineyard, everything is done with respect for the grapes and the land: the use of any chemical or synthetic substances is banned and in the cellar, spontaneous fermentation and maceration on the skins are used. A walk among lemons and scrub and then a dip in the sea. Eclectic!

Badalucco's Griddu Verde white wine is obtained from a blend of Grillo, a typical variety of north-western Sicily, and Verdejo, a native Spanish grape. The grapes all come from an ancient vineyard located in Contrada Tiglia, the most littoral part of the estate, directly facing the sea. Maniacal care is taken in the vineyard, where not only no chemical or synthetic products are used, but the Grillo is harvested manually in three different times, so that it brings different characteristics to the final result. The Verdejo, on the other hand, is harvested with low sugar concentration. Pressing with the feet and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins for 5 to 10 days. Maturation for 6 to 12 months in barriques and tonneaux.

The Griddu Verde wine rejoices already at the sight, with its bewitching intense golden colour, edged with orange and auburn reflections. Rich, expressive and articulate, right from the first sniff it does not skimp on hints of candied orange and Mediterranean scrub, as well as delicate salty nuances. Completing the olfactory picture are hints of aromatic herbs, liquorice, wild fennel and a pleasant, light oxidative note, perfectly integrated, reminiscent of dried nuts. The palate reveals itself to be warm and juicy, saline and fresh, with dry, delicate tannins on the finish. The sip is perfectly cohesive between the brightness and saltiness of the Grillo and the freshness and grip of the Verdejo. Polyvalent.
