LUGANA OLIVINI 2022 DESCRIPTION

Olivini's Lugana is a fresh and savoury wine, a perfect and consistent expression of the whites of the Lake Garda area, made from the Trebbiano di Lugana or Turbiana grape variety. This is a white grape variety that shares DNA with Trebbiano di Soave and Verdicchio. It is a wine with fragrant fruit and subtle citrus and floral nuances, which are enhanced by winemaking made exclusively in steel. Lugana is already a very expressive wine in its youth, but it is among the Italian whites that have absolutely no fear of ageing; indeed, as the years go by, it gives the excitement of elegant tertiary notes.

Olivini's Lugana wine is among the most important labels in the Garda area. The Olivini family cultivates an estate of about 15 hectares of vineyards, which are located in the historic area of San Martino della Battaglia near the southern shore of Lake Garda. The particularly mild climate and soils of mineral-rich white clay provide a perfect habitat for white grapes, particularly Trebbiano di Lugana. The production philosophy is based on great respect for tradition and the peculiarities of an extraordinary terroir, combined with careful and scrupulous work in the cellar, always aimed at enhancing the character of the grapes and the vintage.

Lugana Olivini is a wine with territorial character, which comes from a winery that produces labels now established not only in Italy but also in foreign markets. After manual harvesting, the grapes are subjected to cryomaceration for 12 hours at 5 °C and then soft-pressed. The must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with partial malolactic fermentation taking place. Before bottling, the wine rests for some months in steel tanks. It has a brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. The nose opens with delicate floral aromas, notes of orange blossom and citrus, and fragrant aromas of white-fleshed fruit. The sip is lively and full-bodied, with pleasantly intense fruit and a finish of great freshness that closes on savoury notes.
