MALVASIA 'ETICHETTA BLU' DORO PRINCIC 2022 DESCRIPTION

Doro Princic's Malvasia "Etichetta Blu" is the most intense and rich version of Malvasia produced by this Friuli winery. This ancient white grape variety of Greek origin has been cultivated for centuries in many areas of the Mediterranean basin and expresses itself particularly well in the border area between Italy and Slovenia. It is precisely on the hills of the Gorizia Collio that it succeeds in giving some of the best bottles, with harmonious results of great richness and gustatory balance.

Etichetta Blu Malvasia is one of the most representative whites from Doro Princic's winery. Present for centuries in Friuli, this famous grape variety takes its name from the Peloponnesian port of Monemvasia, the port of call from which bottles took the sea to reach the main cities of the Mediterranean. The clone found in Collio, commonly known as Malvasia Istriana, is less rich than the aromatic Malvasia di Candia is has a slender, fresh and saline profile. The vineyards are located in the countryside of Pradis, between the territory of Cormons and Capriva del Friuli. In this area of beautiful, sunny hillsides, the grapes reach full and complete ripeness, retaining a good freshness. The soils, characterized by the presence of flysch or "ponca," are very draining and rich in minerals, excellent for quality viticulture. The grapes are gently pressed and the flower must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine rests in steel for a period of 6 months before being bottled.

Doro Princic Malvasia "Blue Label" is a perfect interpreter of the synthesis between the characteristics of the grape variety and the terroir. It presents itself with a bright straw-yellow color. The olfactory picture draws ripe aromas on notes of citrus, white fruit, peach, apricot, hints of herbs and iodine nuances. The palate has good body, with a persistent and long sip, closing on harmonious savory and mineral notes.
