MESSORIO LE MACCHIOLE 2017 DESCRIPTION

"Messorio" is a great Tuscan red, considered by the most important wine guides and international critics to be among the best pure Merlots produced in Italy. A star of the first magnitude, it captivates with its harmonious richness and Mediterranean ripeness, its enveloping fruitiness and its seductive softness. It is the jewel in the crown of Cantina Le Macchiole, one of the historical realities of the Bolgheri area, which has always worked with seriousness and competence in the absolute pursuit of excellence. A small jewel that manages its vineyards in one of the most vocated areas of the entire Etruscan Coast territory. This Bolgheri is the perfect son, the one who studies, of whom you are always very proud. The one who can express the character of the land to the fullest, who has the structure, the elegance and the aromas, and who is the exact expression and image of the winery's DNA.

The red wine "Messorio" was born in the beautiful territory of Bolgheri, among the olive trees and the nearby hilly areas covered by forests. A land that has proven to be among the most suitable for the cultivation of the noble Bordeaux grape varieties. The warm Mediterranean climate, mitigated by breezes from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, favours a slow and perfect ripening of red grapes with very rich and intense aromatic profiles. The vines are cultivated with extreme care and very low production, which does not exceed 800 grams per plant. After harvesting, the grapes are sent to fermentation, which takes place partly in steel and partly in cement, with maceration on the skins lasting 20 days. The wine matures for at least 18 months in new French oak barrels and completes ageing in the bottle before being put on the market.

The "Messorio" Le Macchiole is a Merlot declined on the notes of elegance and refined expressive finesse. A great red that expresses the extraordinary qualities of one of the most famous and beloved grape varieties in the world, together with the best characteristics of the territory of the Tuscan Maremma of Bolgheri. In the glass, it has an intense ruby red colour. The bouquet expresses the aromas of small dark berry fruits, delicate spices, hints of Mediterranean maquis herbs and liquorice root. The sip is of extreme finesse, harmonious, and soft, with ripe fruit that still retains its fragrance intact, despite the complexity of tertiary evolutionary notes. The tannins are silky, and the balanced freshness gives a vital momentum to the sip.
