NEBBIOLO GIUSEPPE CORTESE 2021 DESCRIPTION

Giuseppe Cortese's Nebbiolo is the most classic and representative wine of the wonderful Langhe territory. The label that best expresses the varietal character of young Nebbiolo, its fruity fragrance, elegance and refined pleasantness. Thanks to a delicate extraction and ageing in large barrels, the wine gives a still crisp fruit and a subtle tannic texture. It is a perfect bottle to uncork when you are in the mood for a good Nebbiolo without the structure and complexity of a Barolo or Barbaresco. A wine that also possesses great pliability at the table. Ideal for enjoying with first courses with savoury sauces or with roasts.

Nebbiolo is produced by Giuseppe Cortese from grapes that come from the prized and famous Rabaja area of Barbaresco. To make this label, the estate's youngest vines are used, which will later become part of the Barbaresco production base. We are therefore talking about a high-quality Nebbiolo, which is born in one of the best Cru of the territory of Barbaresco. The vineyards enjoy a privileged southern, southwestern exposure and are planted on the fine limestone-clay marls with the presence of the typical sands that characterize the soils of the appellation. The sunny, cool continental climate allows Nebbiolo to ripen slowly with intense and elegant aromas. At the end of the harvest, fermentation is followed by maturation in 17- to 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels, almost all of which are used. Before release, the wine is aged for at least six months in the cellar.

The Nebbiolo wine from Giuseppe Cortese's cellar possesses all the best qualities of the most celebrated wines of the Langhe, combined with immediacy and drinkability that make it absolutely unique. It is a splendid Nebbiolo to be drunk young, to fully appreciate its fragrant and fruity profile. In the glass, it is ruby red in colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet expresses light floral scents of violets, aromas of small berries, and hints of liquorice root and spices. The palate is medium-bodied, with refined aromas, a tannic texture well integrated with the body of the wine and a finish on fresh, savoury notes.
