Nerojbleo Gulfi 2021

Gulfi

Nerojbleo is a warm and sunny expression of Nero d'Avola. Aging for 12 months in French barrique and tonneaux makes it round and velvety, with a deep bouquet where berries and black cherries stand out, with a vein of tobacco. NEROJBLEO GULFI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Nerojbleo, from the famous Sicilian winery Gulfi, is a red wine that brings out the best qualities of the Nero d'Avola grape variety, which in the Chiaramonte area is expressed with a particularly fine and elegant profile. The temperate climate and suitable soils are perfect for high quality viticulture based on low yields and high planting density. The search for the best biotypes that are the result of a long, careful mass selection has made it possible to obtain excellent grapes, which give a pleasantly fruity wine capable of combining freshness, softness and aromatic complexity.

Nerojbleo wine comes from one of the most important wineries in southeastern Sicily. The Gulfi estate is located in the province of Ragusa, in the prized area of Chiaramonte and Pachino. The 40 hectares of vineyards are managed under organic farming and are cultivated mainly with the native grape varieties in the area, particularly Nero d'Avola, the true ambassador of the Val di Noto. The grapes come from Nero d'Avola vineyards located in the Chiaramonte Gulfi and Ragoleti countryside, situated at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. The vines are raised with the traditional method of the alberello on soils of limestone matrix with the presence of red clays rich in iron minerals. Harvesting takes place towards the end of September, and the grapes are started for fermentation with classic maceration on the skins. The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux and is aged for about a year in the bottle before release.

Nerojbleo red is one of Gulfi winery's signature labels, dedicated to Sicily's most famous and widespread native red grape variety. In the glass, it is a rather dark ruby red in colour with faint garnet reflections. The olfactory picture is elegant and rich, characterized by notes of ripe cherry, black cherry, small dark berries, floral nuances of violet and delicate hints of soft spices. Intense and broad on the palate, it has fine, well-integrated tannins, a harmonious, persuasive and persistent sip, asking on pleasantly fresh and spicy sensations.
