PINOT GRIS GRAND CRU HENGST AIMÉ STENTZ 2019 DESCRIPTION

Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst, produced by Domaine Aimé Stentz, is a tribute to one of the most representative grapes of the Alsatian vineyard. Indeed, this grape variety has found in this French region a true terroir of choice, where it expresses itself at very high levels of quality. Thanks to the suitable soils and the cool climate, it gives wines that are particularly elegant, intense, and richly aromatic but never opulent. The sip always retains a pleasant fluidity and a clear immediacy of drinkability. Ample, mature and satisfying, it is always well balanced by the freshness and savouriness typical of its place of origin.

The Grand Cru Pinot Gris Hengst from Domaine Aimé Stentz is the fruit of family know-how handed down from generation to generation and of a particularly fine terroir, which has always yielded grapes of superior quality. The Pinot Gris vineyards are located on the sunny hillside slopes of the famous Grand Cru Hengst at 300 metres above sea level. The vines are cultivated under organic farming methods on soils composed of limestone-clay marl, which is particularly suited to the vine. The grapes are pressed very softly, and the must is fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, using only indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 12 months on the fine lees in oak barrels to acquire greater complexity and aromatic richness.

The Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst from Domaine Aimé Stentz is a well-structured wine dedicated to those who prefer generous fruit and intense aromatic complexity. It is an atypical white, ideal to enjoy with white meats, noble poultry and fish in sauce. To the eye, it is a golden-yellow colour with luminous reflections. The bouquet offers an intense and complex palette of aromas, ranging from floral notes to aromas of ripe white fruit, quince and peach, to hints of underbrush and delicate spices. The palate is broad and rich, with dense and satisfying fruity aromas that unfold in a smooth, harmonious, balanced sip. The finish is long, fresh and aromatically very persistent.
