POUILLY FUISSÉ 'LE HAUTE DE LA ROCHE' SAUMAIZE 2022 DESCRIPTION

Pouilly Fuissé's "Le Haute de La Roche" displays the more classic traits of Chardonnay grown in Burgundy. Minerality dominates the scene both in the mouth and in the nose, where, however, the vinification and the ageing period carried out in wood add tertiary touches that make the olfactory offering more complete and varied, giving it that extra something that tantalizes during the tasting. A label that certifies the excellent path taken by the Saumaize winery, a small production reality all to be discovered thanks to work carried out, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with great precision and punctuality.

"Le Haute de La Roche" is a Pouilly Fuissé made from the quintessential white grape grown in the terroir of French Burgundy, Chardonnay. The vines of this variety are about 50 years old and are rooted in a terroir characterized by limestone and rocky subsoil. Harvesting is strictly by hand, and the grapes, once they reach Saumaize's winemaking facilities, are de-stemmed. The must obtained from pressing the berries vinifies entirely in barrels, 20% new. Also, in barrique, it matures for 10 months, at which time bottling and marketing operations begin.

This Pouilly Fuissé "Le Haute de La Roche" is a French white wine that develops in the glass with a hue reminiscent of golden yellow. The scents that envelop the nose announce themselves deeplyand it is easy to detect a general mineral note, which is enriched by fruity and spicy touches. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and balanced, with a sip marked by a fresh taste and a savoury texture that encourages drinking. A label that impeccably presents the southern part of the terroir of French Burgundy.
