It only takes a few hours with Sergio Zingarelli to realise how much passion he devotes to his Rocca delle Macie winery. It is a love that has been embedded in the DNA of the Zingarelli family since his father Italo founded the winery in 1973. Italo, who was a very talented film producer and the author of the beautiful Italian westerns starring Bud Spencer and Terence Hill such as "Lo Chiamavano Trinità", decided to move to the town of Castellina in Chianti in the early 1970s, abandoning his film career for good. Here he decided to pursue one of his greatest dreams and bought the "Le Macìe" estate in the heart of the Chianti region. At the time, the estate had a surface area of 93 hectares, of which only 2 were dedicated to vines. Here he began his modest production with his first Chianti and the house Riserva. His wine was successful, conquering an ever-increasing number of admirers. His son Sergio, together with his sister Sandra and his wife Daniela, decided to carry on their father's project with enthusiasm. At first, they expanded the estate, which now covers 500 hectares, 107 of which are dedicated to grapes and 22 to olive trees, and then they decided to increase production, while maintaining the consistent quality that made their father's wines famous.

The Rocca delle Macie winery is divided into six estates: Le Macìe, Sant'Alfonso, Tavolelle and Riserva di Fizzano in the Chianti Classico zone, while Campomaccione and Casamaria are in the Maremma zone. The winery's philosophy focuses on total respect for the environment in order to preserve the balance of the ecosystem. Eco-sustainable practices are used to reduce water consumption and avoid the inappropriate use of natural resources. Furthermore, on this vast estate, the focus is on enhancing the value of each individual vineyard and the expression of each individual plot. An accurate study of micro-zoning has allowed the development of a detailed plan designed to enhance the expressiveness of each area to the maximum. In the cellar, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and ageing takes place in large oak casks.

Rocca delle Macie's annual production exceeds 3 million bottles, and offers more delicate, drinkable versions, as well as more complex and intense ones, which are all characterised by the unmistakable quality that has made Italo's wines unique and famous. The Chianti wine, in all its Classico, Gran Selezione and Riserva denominations, is the jewel in the winery's crown and one of the most appreciated by the public, as in each sub-zone, it offers unique wines with completely different characteristics.
