The Cirò Rosso Superiore by Cataldo Calabretta comes from bush-trained vines that have reached 40 years, matures for 10 months in cement tanks and expresses with intensity one of the most vocated terroirs of Calabria. Notes of marasca, cherry, violet, and licorice harmonize in a soft and balanced sip. Organic wine, made as it once was with artisanal methods

The Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore by Cataldo Calabretta is a liquid manifesto of the immense potential of Gaglioppo when interpreted with sensitivity and talent. It cannot be denied that Calabria, and in particular the Cirò area, is experiencing a small wine renaissance thanks to the work of some producers such as Francesco De Franco, Sergio Arcuri, and Cataldo Calabretta, united by a strong desire to allow Gaglioppo, an extraordinary red grape variety, to express itself to the fullest of its potential. Without making forced comparisons, we can confidently state that some Cirò, including those of Cataldo, easily outperform some wines produced in much more renowned areas, demonstrating the extraordinary strength of Gaglioppo, which can also evolve splendidly in the bottle. No manipulation in the vineyard and cellar allows Cataldo to give us a clear picture of what we believe is one of the true areas of the future. An easy prediction.

The Cirò Classico Superiore by Calabretta is produced with pure Gaglioppo grapes, coming from vineyards nearly 40 years old.trained on bush vines, exposed to the east and west, resting on clay and limestone soils. In the vineyard, sustainable agriculture is practiced, excluding the use of any chemical and synthetic substances and maintaining extremely low yields, while in the winery, spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and aging of the liquid in cement tanks for 10 months followed by 7 months in bottle before being released on the market are carried out.

The Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore by Calabretta presents itself in the glass with the typical light garnet hue. A splendid and varied nose, with descriptors ranging from cherry to marasca, from iodine notes to carob, from licorice to violet. A full-bodied, compact, and austere sip, driven by the typical tannic grain of Gaglioppo, which does not compromise despite being extremely fine and elegant. A great red that stands as a daily wine of the heart.
