Forastera by Casa d'Ambra is a white wine with a fresh and savory character from the island of Ischia. Fermented and matured in steel, it expresses a fragrant and Mediterranean bouquet, with notes of apricot, peach, aromatic herbs, and salty hints. On the palate, it releases an energetic freshness and an intriguing savory texture that make the sip easy-drinking and agile.

Forastera di Casa d'Ambra is the most characteristic and typical white wine of the Phlegraean island. It comes from a local grape variety grown only in Ischia and in a few other locations along the Amalfi Coast and represents the most emblematic wine of a tradition that has its roots in a distant past. In Ischia, the culture of the vine dates back to the first Greek colonization in 600 BC and has always been part of the island's agriculture since then. Casa d'Ambra has managed to renew the tradition while remaining faithful to the historical grape varieties of the territory and offers a range of wines of excellent quality.

The white Forastera di Casa d'Ambra is the result of the patient work of Ischian winemakers, who still today carry on the ancient traditions of a millenary past. The Forastera vineyards cover a total area of about four hectares, divided into various parcels, located in the areas of: Forio, Lacco Ameno, and Serrara Fontana. The vineyards are found at different altitudes, ranging from 100 to 500 meters above sea level, on ratherheterogeneous, medium-textured, and with the presence of volcanic origin elements. The grapes are harvested manually in the second half of September. The clusters undergo a soft pressing, and the free-run must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for a few months in stainless steel tanks and is then bottled for commercialization.

The wine Forastera di Casa d'Ambra is a specialty of this historic Campanian winery, which has preserved the ancient custom of cultivating this interesting indigenous grape variety typical of Ischia. In the glass, it appears light yellow with slight and bright golden reflections. On the nose, it offers aromas of broom, fragrant notes of white peach, golden apple, aromas of loquat, apricot, nuances of medicinal herbs, rosemary, thyme, hints of iodine, and marine notes. On the palate, it is harmonious, with ripe and expressive fruit, well balanced by lively freshness and a pleasantly savory finish. It is a white wine that pairs best with seafood dishes, fish soups, white meats, or witha platter of medium-aged cheeses.
