In the small town of Barco di Bibbiano, right in the beating heart of the Lambrusco Reggiano area, lies the La Contea winery. Founded in 2005 by Enrico Buzzoni, it is an all-round agricultural business that produces products of the land, such as fruit, vegetables and salami. Since 2007, it has also been producing wines of great territoriality and expressiveness, which are the result of exclusively artisanal work. Starting from nothing, and driven by determination, spirit of sacrifice and a strong passion for agricultural work, Enrico invested in land, machinery and tools, making his greatest wish come true: establishing his own farm. His wines are born from the deep love for his native land and for the farming world: they are vibrant and straightforward, rich in personality, and represent the landscape of a rural Emilia that has remained untouched and wild.

The La Contea estate covers a total of about 21 hectares and is planted with typical Emilia grapes, such as Lambrusco Salamino and Ancellotta, which produce the winery's 6,000 to 8,000 bottles. An additional vineyard of 4.6 hectares includes vines that are over 60 years old. No chemical products, such as herbicides or insecticides, are used in the vineyard, but only low doses of sulphur, in order to safeguard nature and its biodiversity. Based on the present achievements, a rich and prosperous future is in sight; in fact, Enrico has already purchased a new vineyard near the castle of Rossena, in the Apennines near Reggio Emilia, with the intention of increasing the production of wine.

The wines of La Contea reflect a territorial character, capturing all the seasonal influences and rural characteristics of that small piece of land in Emilia. They are not complex wines designed for long ageing, but have the sole objective of being pleasant and simple, revealing the sincere and joyful side of the grape. These are generous, mouth-watering and very fresh wines, with an excellent price/quality ratio, which can easily be served at the everyday table!
