'Pescatore' Tomassetti 2023
ArtisanalThe "Pescatore" by Tomassetti is a red obtained from common red grapes from the Adriatic coast. It is an intense and full-bodied wine, reminiscent of the sea. The Tomassetti brothers strongly believe in the Italian artisan movement and work diligently to preserve their territory and return its peculiarities in the form of wine. On the nose, the ‘Pescatore’ presents lively scents of fruit and Mediterranean herbs, with intriguing marine iodine hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied, intense, with great juiciness and warmth: truly a wine from warm lands. Perfect with savory and aromatic meats, excellent with lamb.
The red wine ‘Pescatore’ from the small Marche estate Tomassetti is a label that emphasizes accessibility and ease of reading as its key attributes. The adventure of brothers Matteo and Andrea Tomassetti in the world of wine officially began in 2015 with the rental of some old vineyards planted with Verdicchio, Sangiovese, and Trebbiano. Today, this artisanal winemaking reality, located in Senigallia, encompasses 8 hectares of land, of which 4 are reserved for vines, 2.5 for olive groves, and one for vegetables and fruit trees. The agronomic management adheres to the principles of certified organic farming, and the estate also has a truffle ground of its own.
Tomassetti ‘Pescatore’ comes from a single black grape variety grown under certified organic regime, supplemented by biodynamic practices, on clayey-limestone soils. The plants are over 20 years old and benefit from a temperate and windy climate. Once the grapes have reached the ideal stage of ripeness,it is ideal to proceed with manual harvesting in crates, followed by spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with 3 days of maceration on the skins. During processing, recourse to clarification operations is then excluded.
The 'Pescatore' by Tomassetti has a dark ruby red color. On the nose, there are hints of plum, black cherry, and thyme, combined with iodized notes and light spice undertones. The taste is smooth yet full-bodied, warm and juicy, with soft tannins that lead to an intense and fragrant finish. An artisanal red wine that shows excellent versatility at the table as it can accompany platters of cured meats and various cheeses, dishes based on white or red meats, and even flavorful legume soups.
