Domenico Clerico Barolo from the Municipality of Monforte d'Alba is a 100% Nebbiolo produced from a blend of the best vineyards owned in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, namely Ginestra, Mosconi, and Bussia. The vines, planted between 2005 for the youngest and 1968 for the oldest, are located at an altitude ranging from 330 to 380 meters above sea level. The soils consist of fossil Sant'Agata Marls dating back to the Tortonian period, while the exposure is east and southeast. In the winery, the clusters are crushed in vertical tanks for alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by 15-20 days of skin maceration. Subsequently, the wine ages for 24 months in a combination of large oak casks and barriques, followed by approximately one year of further aging in bottle before being released on the market.
The color of the Barolo from the Municipality of Monforte d’Alba by Domenico Clerico is transparent garnet red. The rich olfactory profile is painted with fruity and balsamic aromas of berry jam and mint, adorned with spicy hints of cocoa and pepper. Precise, elegant, and austere is the tasting progression, characterized by excellent freshness and a fine and vigorous tannic structure at the same time that concludes with persistent fruity, balsamic, and spicy sensations consistent with the nose.
