Great Barolo for aging, the Barolo "Pira" Old Vines is born in the cru of Rocche di Castiglione and matures in oak barrels for 48-60 months. It is a robust and majestic wine, whose austerity is enlivened by juicy notes of red fruit, spices, and prominent licorice.

vinification follows the usual procedures adopted by Luca, therefore double manual selection of the best bunches and spontaneous fermentation in large wooden vats, started by a pied de cuve prepared in advance. Aging of the liquid in neutral oak barrels for 5 years.

The Pira Vecchie Viti wine descends into the glass with a ruby dress that fades towards garnet along the edges. Dark and withdrawn start, as often happens in Luca's wines, although one can perceive a compressed matter and absolute sample. It is necessary to give it a moment of time, certain that patience will be rewarded. Here it is then unfolding and offering balsamic brushstrokes, straddling between menthol and licorice, and memories of cherry and dog rose. A typicity never ostentatious, for this reason so magnetic. The sip is tight and muscular, but its structure is harmonious and natural, not a gym work. Splendid the persistence, almost infinite. Ode to Langa.
