Chianti Superiore 'Collezione Oro' represents a pleasant and balanced Chianti expression from the Piccini winery, one of the most important Chianti producers in terms of volumes produced. The wording 'Superiore' that identifies this wine indicates that it is the result of stricter specifications than those for generic Chianti, in particular with regard to grape yield per hectare, minimum alcoholic strength and minimum ageing period, all with the aim of communicating a tendentially higher quality.

Chianti Superiore Piccini 'Collezione Oro' is made from a blend of Sangiovese (85%) and Merlot (15%) grapes grown in the Chianti area. In the cellar, the grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks, containers in which alcoholic fermentation takes place accompanied by a variable period of maceration on the skins. As for the subsequent ageing phase, which lasts 8 months, concrete vats are used, with the final release taking place not before a further brief soak in the bottle.
