The Etna Red "Feudo" by Girolamo Russo is its red wine par excellence. From the north slopes of Mount Etna, on volcanic and sandy soil, rich of minerals, born an Etna Red able to surprise anyone. "Feudo" comes from Nerello Mascalese and from a small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio, in the vineyards of Contrada Feudo, at Randazzo.
The bottles produced are very few, only 3500; a date that testifies to the desire of Girolamo Russo to focus on quality through careful and prudent competition between plants in the vineyard and through a manual selection during the harvest, usually performed in the second half of October. The Etna Red "Feudo" by Girolamo Russo is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 8 days, with native yeasts present on the grape dregs, then macerate 13 days on his own skins. In the spring, spontaneously, start the malolactic fermentation which makes this Etna Red even more soft, smooth, suave and elegant.
It is aged for 16 months in not new barriques, then stabilize and rebalance for 6 months in bottle.
