Gamay del Trasimeno Riserva 'C'Osa' Madrevite 2022
Artisanal
Exclusive wineryThe Gamay del Trasimeno Riserva “C'Osa” by Madrevite is an Umbrian red wine, elegant and powerful, born from the shores of Lake Trasimeno. It is produced with the latest harvested grapes, concentrated and rich in sugars, and is vinified with 20% stems, to give rougher tannins and notable structure. The bouquet is composed of 'red' aromas: cherries, berries, flowers… accompanied by sweet spices. The attack is fragrant and fresh, then the sip develops generating great warmth, but always with finesse.
The Gamay del Trasimeno Riserva ‘C’Osa’ represents an intense and full expression of this traditional variety from Trasimeno, made by the family-run winery Madrevite. Although the name may be misleading, the Gamay del Trasimeno has nothing to do with Gamay from Beaujolais. Rather, it is a variety belonging to the Grenache family, cultivated for centuries on the shores of Lake Trasimeno and also known as Gamay Perugino. According to some hypotheses, this grape was introduced in the 1800s by Sardinian shepherds who emigrated to the continent, bringing with them some cuttings of Cannonau, another grape from the Grenache family from which the biotype of Gamay del Trasimeno would later have originated. The name of this label comes from a distortion of the expression “who dares”.
Madrevite Riserva ‘C’Osa’ Gamay del Trasimeno comes from only grapes of the same variety grown on clay and sandy soils, excluding the use of synthetic chemical products. When the berries have reached full ripeness, the harvest is carried out manually and with careful selection of the grapes, which are then fermented 20% whole cluster in stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the presence of only indigenous yeasts. The subsequent maturation phase takes place in cement tanks for 6 months and in large barrels for 12 months, at the end of which the wine is bottled and after further resting in the bottle, marketed.
‘C’Osa’ Gamay del Trasimeno Riserva Madrevite has a light ruby red color. The olfactory range is composed of fruity aromas reminiscent of raspberry, strawberry, and marasca, surrounded by more complex notes of clove and leather. Savory, elegant, and with intense freshness on the palate, equipped with fine tannins and a long taste persistence.
