Trepat 'Metamorphika' Costador 2019
ArtisanalCostador's "Metamorphika" Trepat is a red wine made from 100% Trepat grapes, a native variety of Catalonia often used to make rosé wines. Costador has bet heavily on the 'tinaja,' the terracotta amphora, with which it produces the 'Metamorphika' line with excellent results. This is a light but present, juicy red with an intense and pleasant fruity bouquet. Hints of earthiness and cocoa pop up in the finish, clean and direct to the sip. A red that deserves careful tasting: behind the drinkability lies complexity and charm.
The Trepat is a label from the "Metamorphika" range, created specifically by the Costador winery to offer interpretations of the most interesting and typical grape varieties of the area. The original ceramic bottle highlights its uniqueness, which is realized both in the choice of an ancient indigenous red grape from the area of Catalonia and the Conca de Barberà, and in the use of vinification in dolium. The terracotta preserves the delicate and fragrant varietal profile of the grape, enhancing its juicy freshness and refined elegance. A wine absolutely to be discovered, which allows you to know the sincere and authentic face of a rare Spanish grape.
The "Metamorphika" Trepat is one of the most representative wines and certainly the one most intimately connected to the territory of origin of the Catalan winery Costador. The estate extends in the area north of Tarragona, rising towards the first hilly reliefs of the hinterland. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 500 and 800 meters abovesea level and are managed according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamic practices. The cool and breezy climate and the calcareous-clay soils with the presence of slate have been an ideal habitat for the vine for centuries. The Trepat grapes are vinified with spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins in dolium. The wine always matures in terracotta for 9 months before being bottled.
The Trepat "Metamorphika" wine, made by the Spanish winery Costador, is inspired by the oldest traditions and arises from a simple, essential, and very respectful production process of the raw material. In the glass, it presents a bright ruby red with youthful purple reflections. On the nose, it expresses all the fragrance of ripe fruit, with notes of raspberry, cherry, red currant, wild strawberries, nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, shadowy hints of underbrush and humus. Of medium structure, it has a delicate and fine tannic texture, an intense and pleasantly crunchy fruit, which anticipates a finishof lively freshness and good persistence.
