Alta Langa Extra Brut 'Millesimato' Marcalberto 2021
The Sparkling Alta Langa Vintage by Marcalberto is an elegant and intense expression of the Asti Langhe, vinified in oak barrels with a second fermentation in the bottle and aged for 42 months before disgorging. It presents itself with a golden color and fruity and toasted aromas, of yeast, hazelnuts, and fresh bread. The tasting reveals dynamism, freshness, liveliness, and great balance.
The Alta Langa Vintage from Cantina Marcalberto is a refined and complex Classic Method, born in the Langhe with its face turned towards the great tradition from across the Alps. Its profile and characteristics make it one of the most interesting labels in our landscape, in some ways even more surprising because it does not come from one of the areas of our peninsula dedicated solely to sparkling wine production. In reality, when you can count on the suitable soils of the Langhe hills, a cool climate, and great expertise, there are no limits to the desire for excellence.
The Vintage Classic Method is the result of the passion of brothers Marco and Alberto Cane, who inherited from their father Pietro the art and pleasure of producing great wines. The cuvée is composed of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%), cultivated in the beautiful hilly area of Santo Stefano Belbo and Calosso, at an altitude of 250-320 meters above sea level, in the territory made up of the prized calcareous marls of the Langhe. The vines are planted in guyot and produce less than 70 quintals per hectare, ensuring very rich grapes from an aromatic point of view. After the harvest, the grapes are pressed gently and the free-run must is started for fermentation. The base wines mature in used wood for about 7 months, with weekly bâtonnage, without clarification or filtration. After the tirage, the wine rests on the lees for at least 42 months.
Alta Langa Vintage from Cantina Marcalberto expresses the culture and love for the Classic Method, interpreted in the pursuit of excellence. It is a label for connoisseurs, who seek non-trivial emotions and a refinement capable of becoming a stylistic signature and recognizable mark of the Winery. The color is bright golden yellow, with an extremely fine and persistent perlage. The olfactory profile is characterized by complex and multifaceted aromas, reminiscent of notes of bread crust, dried fruit, citrus peel, yellow fruit, honey, toasted hints, and delicately spiced. The sip is wide and structured, with deep, rich, and persistent aromas well supported by a lively and pleasant freshness. It concludes with a very long finish.
