The Barbaresco from the cooperative winery Produttori del Barbaresco is configured as a typical expression of the denomination, endowed with remarkable elegance and significant structure. Until 1894, the Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in the Barbaresco area were destined for the production of Barolo or vinified as table wine. It was Domizio Cavazza who recognized that the qualities of the Nebbiolo from Barbaresco deserved their own label, thus deciding to gather local winemakers to vinify in the Barbaresco castle, naming the labels after the municipality. Following Cavazza's death, in the 1920s the social winery closed, and in 1958 the parish priest of Barbaresco, Don Fiorino Marengo, decided to revive that tradition by gathering 19 local farmers and thus founding the winery Produttori del Barbaresco.
The Barbaresco from Produttori del Barbaresco is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes coming from various vineyards in the Barbaresco area. The rows, located at an average altitude of 250 meters above sea level, are planted on clayey-limestone soils characterized by the presence of sandy veins. Following the harvest, the clusters are crushed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation, associated with about 28 days of maceration on the skins. After the complete malolactic fermentation, the mass ages for 20 months in large oak barrels of 50 hectoliters.
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco has a garnet red color with ruby reflections. The aromatic spectrum opens with intense and persistent aromas of small berries such as currants, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, followed by elegant notes of rose, tobacco, rhubarb, and dark spices. The tasting is lively, warm, and enveloping, characterized by pleasant freshness and soft tannins.
