Still red wine, full bodied, fruity and spicy, aged in casks

The Barbaresco Riserva Magnum “Montestefano” by Produttori del Barbaresco is a Barbaresco with pleasant spicy and smoky notes, with a beautiful tannic texture, elegant and a persistent finish. We are in the north-eastern part of the Barbaresco cru, in one of the most historic and important vineyards, increasingly similar in characteristics to a Barolo.

At Montestefano, one of the longest-lived expressions of Barbaresco is born, where earthy, fruity, and spicy aromas combine in a unique marriage. The Cantina Sociale dei Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the most prestigious wineries in the area, now become an example for modern cooperatives. Always devoted to Barolo, it only started producing Barbaresco in 1984, the new luxury and dining wine that arises from the magic and perfect synergy of soil, exposure, and human work: vineyards exposed to the South, located in the Langhe between 200 and 400 meters above sea level, with a clayey and limestone-rich soil, with a climate based on hot summers and cold winters.

The harvest is manual and is anticipated by a few days compared to that of Barolo, after which the must is fermented in steel at a controlled temperature of 28°-30°C for 15-24 days before starting aging in wood for at least 36 months, then resting in the bottle for at least 6 months before marketing. The Barbaresco “Montestefano” is a wine dedicated to aging, less austere than Barolo, but certainly more ready to drink; we are faced with an elegant and full-bodied wine, structured, complex, and rich.

When young, it shows fruity characteristics, which then evolve into aromas of violet, dried flowers, and spices. With aging, the bouquet reveals great richness, a pleasant breadth, and significant elegance.
