The Barolo Cerequio from the Batasiolo winery is an elegant and harmonious red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the commune of La Morra. The nose expresses unmistakable aromas of flowers, spices and balsamic herbs, which combine with hints of incense, tobacco and coffee. On the palate it is persistent, full, enveloping and very balanced. It can mature in the cellar and become an important meditation wine

Among the fine Barolo produced by the Batasiolo winery, the one from Cerequio undoubtedly stands out for its intense menthol balsamic notes. The Geographical Indication of Cerequio is located in the municipality of La Morra, right next to Brunate, another prestigious plot where the Batasiolo estate owns vineyards. Since the vineyards of Cerequio are usually among the first in the Barolo area where the winter snow melts rapidly, local farmers nicknamed this cru as the “Riviera delle Langhe”. It is one of the most renowned and sought-after subzones of the entire Barolo area, not by chance included by Renato Ratti among the first category crus in his famous Barolo Map.

The Barolo Batasiolo Cerequio is a 100% Nebbiolo from vines cultivated in the Cerequio cru, where the soil is made up of the so-called fossil Sant'Agata marls, consisting of layers of marls dating back to the Tortonian, specifically interspersed with sandy veins. The plants also benefit from an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level and the exposure to the south and southeast. Following the harvest, which is generally done by hand during the first half of October, the grapes are transferred to the winery where they are destemmed and pressed in stainless steel tanks. Here, the alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with at least 10-12 days of maceration on the skins, a period associated with daily pump-overs. Subsequently, the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and then again in steel. This is followed by bottling and further resting in glass before the final market release.

The Barolo Cerequio by Batasiolo expresses an intense garnet red color with slight orange reflections. Deep sensations of ripe fruit and flowers introduce the olfactory weave, followed by balsamic puffs and complex hints of incense, tobacco, and coffee. The enveloping softness and full body on the palate balance with the fresh-salty component and the elegant tannins, leading to a persistent finish.
