The Chardonnay “Altkirch” is a white wine that belongs to the most classic line produced by Colterenzio, with which the winery aims to present the fundamental traits of each grape variety used. With this Chardonnay, there is a beautiful impact with the typical fruity aromas of the variety, which traverse the palate thanks to a freshness that encourages drinking, a result of the great temperature excursion that characterizes the climate in the vineyards where the grapes are grown. A very interesting white wine, which has garnered many positive reviews among the reference guides and also surprises for its excellent quality-price ratio.
This Chardonnay “Altkirch” is born from the use of pure grapes from an internationally cultivated white grape variety, Chardonnay. The vines of this variety, which are cultivated following principles of organic farming, take root in soils mainly characterized by sand, with deep deposits of gravel. In the vineyard, the yields are kept around 70 quintals per hectare, and the grapes, once harvested and brought to the areas designated for vinification at the Colterenzio winery, are fermented alcoholically at controlled temperature. The aging phase then follows, carried out for several months both in steel on the fine lees, and in large wooden barrels.
The Chardonnay “Altkirch” develops in the glass with a light straw yellow color, crossed by slight reflections tending towards greenish. The nose is characterized by fine and subtle aromas, telling of herbaceous notes, exotic fruit, and light mineral sensations. On the palate, it is light-bodied, elegant, and captivating thanks to a broad and delicate sip, also marked by a nice fresh vein, which makes drinking smooth.
