Perfect to give as a giftWhisky Glenlivet 15 Years Old is a Single Malt from Speyside that is aged in French oak barrels, mostly ex-Cognac, able to enrich the spirit with sweet spicy and fruity aromas. It smells like citrus, yellow fruits, candied fruits, butter and vanilla. The taste is smooth, warm, long and spicy
The 15 Years Single Malt branded Glenlivet is a Whisky that flows with an identity trait: we are talking about a product with a spicy profile, which indeed characterizes the entire tasting phase, both on the nose and on the palate. Obviously, these notes are never too pronounced, but it is not difficult to identify them and understand how this peculiarity is due to the long aging period carried out in wood. A label that confirms how Glenlivet is still today one of the most important and renowned distilleries for what concerns the production of Scottish Single Malts.
The 15 Years Single Malt is a Whisky made by the Glenlivet distillery starting from a barley malt where the raw material is directly selected from the crops of Banffshire. The water used comes from the stream Josie's Well and the entire working process is divided among 14 stills, 7 used for the first distillation and 7 dedicated to the second. Once the production process is completed – during which peat is never used – the Whisky is aged for a full 15 years in Limousin French oak barrels, which once primarily contained Cognac. Glenlivet was indeed one of the first distilleries to use French origin woods to mature its products, a practice that has since been adapted and imitated worldwide.
This Whisky Single Malt Glenlivet 15 Years develops in the glass with a color reminiscent of the shade of gold, endowed with a particular brightness. Wide and rich in nuances is the nose, where sweet fruity notes blend with spicy notes and hints of butter. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balanced, with a sip that enters the mouth with a good dose of warmth, recalling the flavors perceived during the olfactory analysis. It finishes with an excellent persistent finish. A distillate with an original profile, at times exotic, undoubtedly one of the highest expressions of Whisky interpreted by Glenlivet.
