The Rosso di Vittoria by Cos is a red wine vinified in cement tanks. A complex array of aromas is perceived on the nose: notes of currant, blackberry, wilted rose, and rhubarb, Mediterranean scrub, black pepper, and tobacco. On the palate, it is soft and expressive, fresh and persistent.

The Red of Vittoria by Cos is one of those wines that we like to remember and recommend for its ability to express the potential of a territory, Sicily, and the values of a winery, Cos, founded in 1980 thanks to the passion of three friends: Giambattista, Cirino, and Giusto. The name Cos indicates the initials of the surnames of the three friends, Cilia, Occhipinti, and Strano. The basic idea immediately fascinated the public: to revisit the traditions of their ancestors, venturing into a world capable of providing great satisfaction. Cos is a winery that has been able to make the history of Sicily, a winery that has proposed a different idea of wines; an idea that is based on great attention to the vineyard, followed in every detail to maintain that balance and harmony with nature that can allow the wine to express the depth, personality, and character of its soils.

The Eosso of Vittoria is born in an area of ancient winemaking vocation, with finds that speak of wine since the 3rd century BC; we are in Southeast Sicily, between Ragusa and Gela, a few kilometers from the sea. Here, in the locality of Bastonaca, at 250 meters above sea level and on medium consistency soils, the vines of Nero d'Avola and Frappato grow lushly; the soils are of a calcareous and siliceous nature and present in the middle layers of fresh clay and calcareous tuffs; the vines are almost 30 years old and Cos vinifies its Cerasuolo in vitrified cement tanks before proceeding with aging in oak barrels for the Nero d'Avola and vitrified cement for the Frappato.

After 18-24 months of resting, we find ourselves facing a soft and very expressive Red of Vittoria, fresh and with beautiful persistence; which offers itself in all its complex array of fruity and floral notes ranging from currant to blackberry, from rose to rhubarb, concluding with hints of black pepper and tobacco. A Red that tells the story of a great territory, Sicily, and describes the idea of a winery, Cos, with great potential…
