Gin Vallombrosa
This Gin is produced by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Vallombrosa. It is born from a variety of wild juniper collected in the hills near Sansepolcro and other botanicals from the Vallombrosa forest. It is crisp, deep and balsamic: a high quality artisan gin!
The Gin made by the Benedictine monks inside the Abbey of Vallombrosa is a true rarity, produced by the monks in very limited quantities. In the universe of Italian Gins, favored by the wave of international rediscovery of this distillate, it is difficult to come across realities that are still highly artisanal, situated outside of modern commercial and communication logics. Moreover, if we add to this the fact that very few bottles are available on the market, then it becomes clear how we are faced with a label that is nothing short of unique. A bottle of Gin where juniper plays a fundamental role both on the nose and on the palate, giving rise to an aromatic and balsamic profile.
This Gin is made within the walls of the Abbey of Vallombrosa, in Tuscany, where some Benedictine monks reside permanently, dedicated, among other things, to the production of liqueurs and distillates. Among these, the Dry Gin stands out, made starting from a selection of single-variety juniper, which grows only in the areas of Sansepolcro and Pieve Santo Stefano. To this ingredient, other botanical elements are then added, faithfully following a recipe handed down through the centuries by the monks, who oversee every phase of the distillation process.
The Vallombrosa Gin presents itself to the eye completely colorless, clear, and crystalline. The array of aromas that envelops the nose, from the very first moments, tells of intense notes, where balsamic sensations alternate with touches of juniper and aromatic nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied, broad, and enveloping, with a sip that settles on a mineral and mossy flavor, slightly tending towards sweetness. A bottle that is nothing short of exclusive, as only a few hundred are produced each year, to be gifted to the most passionate connoisseurs of this distillate.
