Artisanal
Callmewine's Favourites"Mammi" is a soft and balanced Sangiovese from the Tuscan winery Tanganelli. Fermented thanks to indigenous yeasts, malolactic fermentation takes place in cask and then is aged for 24 months. Intense aromas of leather and chocolate with hints of ripe cherry, supported by a well-balanced palate
‘Mammi’, the flagship red wine of the Tanganelli winery, is a Tuscan Sangiovese refined and spontaneous at the same time. This artisanal production reality is located in the province of Arezzo, at the foot of the Apennines, in an environmental context made of woods and Mediterranean shrubs. Here, Marco Tanganelli has inherited his father's legacy, quickly establishing himself as an extraordinary farmer, a source of inspiration for any winemaker. “Mammi” is the name of the old terraced vineyard from which the grapes come, named after the homonymous hamlet of the municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino, where the winery is located. This is a bottle produced only in the best vintages, in very limited quantities.
Carlo Tanganelli ‘Mammi’ is a pure expression of Sangiovese from an old terraced vineyard, rooted in clay soil and cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. Following the manual harvest, the bunches are transferred to the winery, where they spontaneously undergoin wooden barrels both for alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation. The maceration on the skins lasts for several weeks, and the wine is subsequently aged for two years in large wooden barrels and for a further period in the bottle before being released on the market.
In the glass, Tanganelli's Sangiovese ‘Mammi’ displays an intense cherry red hue. The olfactory panorama is defined by aromas of ripe red fruits and wildflowers, combined with intense notes of leather, tobacco, and cocoa. On the palate, it reveals great balance between softness, fresh-salty verve, and velvety tannins. The finish is long and balanced, with a great taste-olfactory correspondence. An elegant and gastronomic red, an authentic manifestation of the variety and territory behind it.
