Pellegrino's Marsala Superiore Riserva "Old John" is a semi-dry fortified wine, charcaterized by elegance and aromatic complexity. It displays a very rich and subtle bouquet, in which you can recognize many yellow flowers, hay, hazelnuts, sweet spices and aromatic herbs. The taste is soft, warm, slightly sweet and persistent, supported by a saline freshness

Marsala Superiore Riserva Ambra Semisecco "Old John" by Pellegrino is a slightly sweet version that represents the face of classic Marsala, softened by the presence of a light residual sugar. It is made from an equal blend of three typical grapes from western Sicily: Inzolia, Catarratto, and Grillo. This is a Marsala with a particularly intense and harmonious taste, characterized by complex and alluring aromas reminiscent of dried fruit, spices, and nuances of herbal notes. The sip denotes an extraordinary balance between sweetness and the savory freshness of the finish.

The Superiore Riserva "Old John" is a Marsala that originates within the walls of one of the most ancient and important wineries in Sicily. Carlo Pellegrino & C. is a true institution in the world of Sicilian wine. Founded towards the end of the 19th century, it is still an important reference point for wine production on the island. The Pellegrino winery owns about 150 hectares in the best areas of western Sicily, allowing them to grow each grape variety in the ideal location in terms of climate and soil.to cultivate each grape variety in the ideal location in terms of climate and soil. The property is divided into several estates: Salinaro, in the municipality of Petrosino, Kelbi and Gazzerotta in Mazara del Vallo, Rinazzo in Marsala, in addition to managing more than half of the grapes from the vineyards of small producers on the island of Pantelleria. Marsala is still one of the flagship wines of the winery, and recently Pellegrino has renewed the range and labels, precisely to relaunch this historic excellence and make it known to enthusiasts of the new generations.

"Old John" is a Marsala Superiore Riserva Ambra Semisecco produced by the Sicilian winery Pellegrino in line with the great tradition of this historic fortified wine. The grapes of Inzolia, Catarratto, and Grillo come from vineyards cultivated on the clayey soils of the Marsala and Mazara del Vallo area. The wine, after fortification, which is done by leaving a small residual sugar, matures for 48 months in barrels of oak of 50 and 80 hectoliters and completes the aging with an additional 6 months in barrique. In the glass, it presents a bright golden yellow color. The aromas offer notes of broom and wildflowers, candied citrus peel, acacia honey, soft oriental spices, dried fruit, and nuances of herbal notes.
