From our sommeliers

The Petite Arvine Di Barrò is a deep, aromatic white wine from the Aosta Valley. The 12 months of aging in steel allows it to preserve its freshness and varietal aromas, expressed in notes of white flowers, grapefruit zest and quince, while the palate delivers a full, enveloping sip, well balanced by a pleasant sapid streak. Fine, balanced and territorial!

The Petite Arvine from the small and historic Valle d'Aosta winery Di Barrò represents a typical expression of the grape variety and the territory, characterized by fresh and fragrant aromas. Petite Arvine is a white grape variety with interesting oenological qualities, originally from Valais, Switzerland, but traditionally cultivated in Valle d'Aosta. In this mountainous territory, the grape has found an ideal environment due to its propensity to be cultivated at high altitudes. The appellation “Petite” refers to the small size of the berries, a factor that contributes to the full body and significant concentration of the resulting wines.

Di Barrò Petite Arvine is a pure expression of the eponymous white grape variety grown at about 750 meters above sea level. The vines are approximately 20 years old and benefit from a full south exposure, ideal for allowing the berries to reach perfect ripeness. After manual harvesting, the white winemaking of the bunches follows through soft pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent aging phase also takes place in steel and lasts for 12 months until bottling and final marketing.

In the glass, the Petite Arvine from the family-run estate Di Barrò reveals a beautiful bright and consistent straw yellow hue. The aromatic bouquet evokes fresh aromas of grapefruit zest, quince, peach, and white flowers like elderflower, enriched by hints of aromatic herbs and refined mineral tones. Fresh and balanced tasting, deep and slightly savory, with an excellent persistent finish that lingers on fruity, floral, and mineral sensations consistent with the nose.
