Wine Box Alto Adige Reds (6bt)
The Wine Box Alto Adige Reds offers a taste of some of the best reds from the Tyrolean mountains that are fresh, taut wines of great finesse, in terms of aroma and drinkability. Today, Alto adige is increasingly becoming one of the new benchmarks of Italian oenology, more and more sought after by the curious, enthusiasts and experts from all over the world, also thanks to the many indigenous grape varieties, protagonists in many great wines
Through the Wine Box Rossi Alto Adige, the Callmewine team wanted to select a series of labels designed to showcase the juiciest spirit of this alpine land. Although Alto Adige is definitely more famous for white wines, which account for about 65% of total production, the territory is also capable of producing reds of great class and character. These are crafted from both local varieties, including Lagrein and Schiava, and international grapes such as Merlot and especially Pinot Nero. In fact, this noble variety of Burgundian origin has found in the cool climate of Alto Adige an exceptional territory, and the wines it produces are among the best in all of Italy.
The Wine Box Rossi Alto Adige includes six labels selected by the sommeliers of Callmewine to offer a overview of the Alto Adige red wine production. The most cultivated black grape varieties in Südtirol are, in decreasing order of prevalence, Schiava, Pinot Nero, Lagrein, Merlot, and Cabernet and Moscato Rosa, the latter used to produce exceptionally pleasant dessert wines. These grape varieties benefit from three key factors: the matrix of the soils, rich in volcanic porphyry, quartz, mica, limestone, and dolomite; the cool climate characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night; and finally, the high annual hours of sunlight. In general, Alto Adige reds are characterized by intense aromas of berries and sweet spices, as well as their fresh and full-bodied taste, quite soft and finely tannic.
Fans of Alto Adige red wines cannot miss the Wine Box Rossi Altoadige, a fine assortment of bottles that pair excellently with the local cuisine, such as dishes based on venison.
