Albarino Rias Baixas Xesteirina 2023
ArtisanalThe Albariño from Xesteiriña is a handcrafted white produced by a small winery in Galicia, in northern Spain near a small locality that gives its name to the winery. A gem that today shines in the Spanish artisanal revolution. On the nose, typical scents of Albariño are perceived: ripe yellow and orange fruits like peach and melon, but above all, the typical saline note of wines produced in the region is felt. On the palate, it is fresh and light, with good freshness and intense savoriness.
The Albariño Rias Baixas from the young Galician winery Acios da Xesteiriña is a white wine with a oceanic personality, a faithful varietal and territorial interpretation. This small wine reality was founded in 2019 by Adrian Guerra, Victor Cardona, and Jose Manuel Dominguez, three friends united by the desire to start their own viticultural project in Pontevedra, in the Salnés area. With the 2020 vintage, the three friends released this label, the first, made from a single hectare of vineyard cultivated through a highly genuine approach.
Acios da Xesteiriña Albariño Rias Baixas is produced with only organic Albariño grapes grown on soils made up of a characteristic granite rock substrate called “Granodiorito de Sanxenxo”, just 2 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. After manual harvesting, the bunches are pressed whole, and the resulting must is partially conveyed into stainless steel tanks and partially into French oak barriques.for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, without temperature control. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass spends 10 months maturing in the same type of wine containers on the fine lees and is finally bottled with a minimal amount of added sulfur.
In the glass, the Rias Baixas Albariño Acios da Xesteiriña shows an intense straw yellow color. The aromatic range offers scents of melon, apricot, peach, and lemon zest, supported by peculiar iodized notes. Vibrant and dynamic is the sip, with a pleasant glyceric softness supported by energetic freshness and a marked savory character that anticipates lasting marine returns. Thanks to its maritime character, this Albariño pairs exceptionally well with flavorful seafood first and second courses.
