Artisanal
Callmewine's Favourites
Organic and biodynamicThe White of Barraco is an intense and complex white wine, a deep expression of wine from old vines. It is warm and structured, rich and enveloping, with marine notes, citrus, and toasted dried fruit. Of great character!
The Sicilian winery Barraco presents the Bianco ‘G’, a macerated white wine that stands out for its briny and Mediterranean soul, the result of a truly artisanal production philosophy. The Barraco project originated in 2004 from Nino Barraco's need to convey the value of the Marsala wine-growing territory, interpreted through the agricultural knowledge of his family. Few but emblematic are the varieties cultivated by the estate, all connected to the important enological tradition of the region: Grillo, Catarratto, Moscato di Alessandria, Nero d’Avola, and Pignatello, the latter also known as Perricone.
‘G’ Bianco Barraco is produced with only Grillo grapes from 50-year-old vines, sustainably grown on red soils characterized by a high presence of sand on the surface. The yields per hectare are low, and the harvest is done by hand at the end of August, followed by the pressing of the bunches in stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the intervention of only indigenous yeasts, accompanied by 3-6 days of skin maceration.pellicolare. Subsequently, the mass matures for a few months always in cement and after a further brief resting in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for market release.
The Bianco ‘G’ from the artisanal reality of Barraco has an intense golden yellow hue. The nose is balanced, deep, and intense in its perceptions of citrus, sea water, and Mediterranean herbs that meet in the finish with distinct iodine mineral notes and hints of fresh fruit like apricot, apple, and white peach. Elegant and intense tasting, complex and characterful, with a long saline trail that leads to the irresistible gustatory epilogue.
