The Catarratto "Miano" from Cantina Castellucci Miano is a fresh and intense Sicilian white wine, born at the foot of the Madonie mountains, in a highly charming mountainous area. It impresses with its citrus aromas, mature notes of exotic fruit, and its rich and deep taste, accompanied by a vibrant saline freshness. It is one of the best expressions of the ancient indigenous grape variety Catarratto, mainly found in western Sicily, which finds in the Valledolmo area a historically renowned zone of the island.
The "Miano" white wine is produced from old Catarratto vines primarily cultivated in the bush training system, at an altitude between 700 and 1050 meters above sea level in the localities of Castelluzzi, Rovittello, Miano, Sprella, Contrasto, Cifiliana, Acqua del corvo, and Sciarazzi, in the countryside of Valledolmo. The 75 hectares of vineyards are scattered in small plots across the mountainous area of the Madonie, where the vine still coexists with prickly pears, fruit trees, and olive trees, creating a landscape of great biodiversity and respect for the nature of the territory. Fermentation takes place in steel, at a controlled temperature of 16 °C. The wine rests in steel tanks for about 3 months and completes its aging with a few months in the bottle before being released for sale.
The "Miano" wine from Cantina Castellucci Miano is a pure Catarratto that captivates with its personality and perfectly expresses the unique characteristics of the Valledolmo area. It is a Sicilian white that originates at altitude and retains the refined freshness that distinguishes all mountain wines. The color is straw yellow. On the nose, it opens with aromas of orange blossom, grapefruit, white peach, and citrus. The palate is rich and intense with a mid-palate of ripe exotic fruit notes, well balanced by a lively freshness and a pleasantly savory finish.
