The renowned Maison champenoise Pommery presents the Champagne ‘Les Clos Pompadour’, a label of precious and luxurious dimension, expression of a single, great clos located in the city of Reims. It is one of the only two clos situated right in the urban center of the unofficial capital of Champagne. In particular, the Clos Pompadour boasts 25 hectares of rows, surrounded by an impressive 2-meter high wall. This Champagne, produced exclusively in Magnum format and only in the best vintages, was presented for the first time in 2011 to celebrate Pommery's 175 years of history.
‘Les Clos Pompadour’ Champagne Pommery comes from a blend of Chardonnay (75%), Pinot Noir (25%), and Pinot Meunier (5%), varieties cultivated within the Clos Pompadour, where the vineyards are between 25 and 30 years old. Following the harvest, accompanied by a careful selection of the bunches, the traditional white winemaking process is carried out through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks, containers in which the malolactic fermentation. This is followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method, accompanied by an extremely long aging of over 10 years on the lees in glass.
The Pommery Champagne ‘Les Clos Pompadour’ has a golden yellow color with emerald reflections and elegant, lasting effervescence. The aromatic bouquet denotes enticing hints of apple, peach, slightly dried lemon peel, rose petals, and hawthorn, enriched by nuances of honey and dried fruit. All supported by a strong mineral vein. The sip is rich and full, in excellent balance between softness and freshness, with a straightforward and lively finish that highlights great complexity
