Dolcetto d'Alba Mario Marengo 2024
Perfect to drink every dayThe Dolcetto d'Alba by Mario Marengo is a faithful portrait of pure Piedmontese everyday life, directly from the Langhe. Made as tradition dictates by an authentic vigneron, it is vinified only in steel tanks. On the nose, it has aromas of violet and wildflowers with hints of peeled almond and light spices. Fresh and agile sip, gastronomic and territorial with a finish of dried fruit
The Dolcetto d'Alba branded Mario Marengo expresses its Langhe soul in all its disarming drinkability. As per tradition in its native territory between Asti and Cuneo, Dolcetto has always been the quintessential meal wine. Over the years, the quality has risen, and we have perfect proof of this with this bottle. Mario Marengo cultivates seven hectares on the hills of La Morra, in the province of Cuneo, following what he was taught by his father, and in turn by previous generations, back to the early 1900s. Practicality and essence are cornerstones in the cellar, where a deep soil analysis is being implemented to improve the quality of the grapes.
Mario Marengo Dolcetto d'Alba contains only Dolcetto grapes, sourced from the vineyards of Castiglione Falletto, where the soils are predominantly clayey with some limestone layers. The plants are all cultivated following the integrated pest management concept, with the least possible intervention and the use of copper and sulfur for treatments. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at a constantly controlled temperature. The aging also takes place in steel, lasting 10 months.
The Dolcetto d'Alba by Mario Marengo has a ruby red color with violet reflections. From the glass come fresh and invigorating aromas, such as notes of violet and wildflowers, with fuller tones of juicy and ripe red fruits, alternated with puffs of aromatic herbs. One can also perceive a bit of the sweetness of almond, which composes an interesting olfactory picture. On the palate, one immediately understands the immediacy and drinkability, with very pleasant refreshing and enveloping qualities. The tannic structure is light and delicate, not compromising the freshness it conveys. This wine is pleasant and easy, a Piedmontese juice that is hard to say no to.
