"Upupa Orange" is an orange wine from the municipality of Appiano with an aromatic, elegant, and intense profile made from Gewurztraminer of the local clone "Laimburg 14". On the nose, it is very rich and intense, with notes of rose petals, lychee, and orange blossoms, finishing with balsamic notes. On the palate, it expresses an intense and characterful texture, with a light tannic structure.

The Gewurztraminer “Upupa Orange” by Weingut Abraham is a wine produced in Alto Adige, south of the Val d’Adige near Appiano. The winery was established in the 2000s and is family-run; the working philosophy constantly aims to operate in the vineyard with the goal of respecting the ecosystem surrounding the vineyard and the raw materials processed in the winery; every action taken today looks towards the future of the generations to come and the winery's production, in order to transmit knowledge and passion for the world of wine.

The grapes for the Gewurztraminer “Upupa Orange” by Weingut Abraham come from vineyards about 15 years old near San Michele Appiano, at about 500 meters above sea level with an east-facing exposure; cool and very ventilated area also thanks to the influence of breezes coming from Lake Garda. The soil is mainly composed of limestone and clay, excellent for the maturation of Chardonnay. The harvest is done manually and traditional processing methods are adopted in the winery.traditional: alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous thanks to indigenous yeasts in open vats on the skins, and malolactic fermentation also takes place. It ages for several months in used oak barrels for between 12 and 20 months. It is bottled without clarifications or filtrations.

The Gewurztraminer “Upupa Orange” by Weingut Abraham presents itself in the glass with a golden yellow color and bright reflections; the nose is flooded with notes of tropical fruit, wild rose, and a balsamic finish. On the palate, it is seductive, rich, and complex with very light and pleasant tannins and a typical underlying aromaticity of the grape variety. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, mollusks, and shellfish, as well as seafood fritters; it is also interesting with vegetable dishes and fresh cheeses. An excellent product to enjoy for formal occasions, but also for pleasant summer aperitifs by the sea to savor a wine that encapsulates all the power of the Alto Adige territory.
