The Double Gin is a specialty of the Boatyard Distillery, inspired by the best tradition of the classic London Dry, enriched by a particular production process. Juniper berries are used both in the initial phase and at the final moment of distillation, giving a Gin with particularly intense balsamic aromas and a harmonious, smooth, and very persistent sip. An excellent label, dedicated to the finest connoisseurs of this extraordinary distillate from Northern Europe.
The Double Gin originates from a distillery in Northern Ireland. The origins of the Boatyard Distillery date back to the late 1800s, and today it follows a production philosophy aimed at creating a range of high-quality distillates that can enter the elite of the best labels available on the market. The excellence of the production is due to selected raw materials, processes inspired by the best craft practices, and a staff of competent and passionate people. At the base of the Gin is grain alcohol produced biologically and eight carefully selected botanicals to achieve an intense, elegant, and balanced taste: juniper berries, coriander seeds, licorice, angelica root, citrus, iris, myrica, and grains of paradise. The plants are macerated with infusion in alcohol for a period of 18 hours. The processing follows a particular procedure: the juniper is distilled together with the extracts of the other botanicals. The distillate is then distilled again with the juniper to make its aroma more intense and rich.
The Double Gin produced by the Boatyard Distillery represents the classic and traditional face of this famous distillate, in its essential expressive purity. It appears perfectly transparent, bright, and crystalline. The olfactory profile is characterized by a bouquet reminiscent of the scents of white flowers, the citrus fragrances of lemon peel, notes of medicinal herbs, licorice root, vanilla, delicate spices, and juniper berries. The entry on the palate is gentle and clear, with an aromatic sip that is intense and deep, which unfolds towards a very fresh finish and characterized by balsamic nuances.
