The Grappa Riserva Mastrojanni is an excellence that sees the light in one of the most famous and prestigious estates in the Montalcino area. The winery produces some of the labels that belong to the select elite of the most important expressions of Brunello di Montalcino, characterized by refined elegance, intensity, complexity, and longevity. In addition to a particularly careful winemaking and aging process, the success of the wines derives from the extraordinary quality of the grapes. It is from this awareness that the desire to use the pomace of Brunello di Montalcino to create a high-end single-varietal grappa was born.
The Riserva di Mastrojanni is a Grappa made from the wonderful vines cultivated in the company estate, located in the area of Castelnuovo dell'Abate. The distillate aims to be the worthy conclusion of the production cycle of Brunello, without wasting anything from such a precious raw material. The grappa, in fact, comes from a selection of the best Sangiovese pomace from the fermentationsof Brunello di Montalcino. The pomace is processed fresh and fragrant, rich in scents and aromas of grapes of exceptional quality. The distillation process is very precise and takes place in small batches, according to still artisanal methods, with indirect steam stills, which give the grappa remarkable delicacy and softness. Before proceeding to bottling, the distillate undergoes a long aging in oak barrels, for a period of at least 36 months.
The Grappa Riserva Mastrojanni presents itself in the glass with a splendid golden yellow color with slight amber reflections that enhance its appearance. Intense and of extraordinary elegance, it harmoniously summarizes and blends the varietal aromas of Sangiovese with the tertiary notes of long aging in oak. It offers aromas of small red berry fruits, hints of vanilla and soft spices, notes of blonde tobacco, leather, smoky sensations, toasted notes, and memories of noble woods. The entry on the palate is soft and enticing, with a deep, long, and complex sip, that extends towards avery persistent finish, which returns to pleasant spicy sensations.
