Il Ceo's 'Groppea' is a fresh and drinkable red wine made by an artisanal winery in Veneto. Made from grapes harvested from old vines near the winery, the grapes undergo a short carbonic maceration before fermenting with indigenous yeasts. The nose has hints of crisp red fruit that meet intriguing herbaceous hints. The palate is fresh, fragrant and pleasantly savory, with a rustic character that nonetheless finds incredible balance on the sip

The ‘Groppea’ by Davide Andreatta from the Veneto winery Il Ceo is an absolutely original artisanal wine, halfway between a rosé and a red, to be appreciated for its fresh and crunchy fruit. Among the varieties cultivated by Davide, Groppello and Vespaiola certainly play an important role, traditional grape varieties from the Breganze area that the winemaker tends with love and dedication. In fact, since 2014 when the producer rented his first vineyard planted with international and traditional varieties, he realized that the latter were more resistant to vine diseases. This led Davide to believe that local grapes are more in symbiosis with the territory and that they should therefore be protected and safeguarded.

Il Ceo ‘Groppea’ originates from a blend of two black grape varieties grown on tuffaceous and marl soils, applying the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The harvest is carried out strictly by hand, and in the winery, the bunches are vinified whole with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by a short carbonic maceration. Throughout the entire production process, both the use of additives and enological aids and the recourse to clarification and filtration operations are excluded.

The ‘Groppea’ from the Il Ceo estate is of intense cherry red color. On the nose, there are crunchy notes of raspberry, pomegranate, blood orange, cherry, thyme, and mown grass. The taste is savory and refreshing, very juicy, characterized by a medium body and engaging smoothness, as well as a delicate tannin that enriches the sip. A gastronomic wine that pairs exceptionally well with platters of assorted cheeses and not overly aged cold cuts.
