'Io Cammino da Solo' Ricci
Artisanal"Io cammino da solo" is the artisan and artistic answer of Daniele Ricci for the production of Timorasso in Tortonese area. A name that speaks of courage and stance: this orange stems from a 100 days of maceration in amphorae and an aging of 12 months in chestnut casks. Nose and pungent, citrus and saline with a lively, deep and slightly tannic taste. Wine made with old style artisanal methods
“I Walk Alone” from the Ricci winery is a white wine, macerated on the skins, that expresses all the depth, intensity, and complexity of the varietal. This label, produced in Costa Vescovato on the Colli Tortonesi, in the province of Alessandria, is made from pure Timorasso grapes sourced from old vineyards, cultivated using the traditional guyot method, on gentle hills characterized by limestone soils rich in Tortonian marls, known here as “San Leto”. The winery, owner of about 10 hectares of vineyards, is currently managed by Daniele Ricci, a contrarian winemaker who has never joined any producers' association and who pursues a viticulture concept that does not use chemical or synthetic products and embraces new experiments always with great expertise.
The Timorasso “I Walk Alone” from Ricci is produced with carefully selected and hand-harvested grapes, generally around mid-September. The clusters, brought to the winery, are destemmed and fermented spontaneously, using exclusively indigenous yeasts, in terracotta amphorae from Impruneta with a very long skin maceration, exceeding even 100 days. At the end of the maceration, the wine is transferred to chestnut barrels where it remains in aging for about 12 months before being bottled without clarifications or filtrations.
“I Walk Alone” presents itself with a bright orange color, slightly hazy. On the nose, intense aromas of stone fruits appear, including apricot and loquat, citrus aromas and dried fruit, floral notes of hawthorn and white flowers, spicy hints of white pepper, resin, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is rich, dense, and savory, with a beautiful spicy weave and a delicate tannin. This, from the Ricci winery, is a “precise, sharp, and versatile orange wine”, characterized by a slight oxidation well integrated with its structure.
