Macabeu 'Eres Tu' Despeinada
Artisanal'Eres Tu' from the Catalan winery Despeinada is a white wine based on Macabeu that is completed with a small part of Moscatel, a portrait of summer in the bottle. It is developed from a 6-day maceration, with subsequent spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and ageing in steel tanks. It is a tasty and saline label that encompasses hints of fresh hay, Mediterranean notes and aromatic hints of yellow fruit
The Macabeu 'Eres Tu' from Finca La Despeinada is a Catalan orange wine with a Mediterranean character, the result of a truly sustainable production philosophy. The Finca La Despeinada winery is located in the Bot area, in Terra Alta, and is managed by the couple Alex and Petra in harmony with nature. The couple started their life project in 2016 following the advice of their mentor Laureano Serres with the intention of producing wines that are an authentic reflection of the territory from which they descend, with absolute respect for the health of the plants, the soil, and the environment in general.
Finca La Despeinada Macabeu 'Eres Tu' is made from a base of Macabeo grapes, to which 5% of Moscatel is added. The vines, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, rest on limestone soils characterized by an abundant presence of clay. The two grapes are hand-harvested, and while the Moscatel is gently pressed directly, the Macabeo is fermented for 6 days on the skins. The fermentation processes are conducted by only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and the subsequent maturation phase of several months also takes place in steel. Throughout the entire winemaking and aging process, no sulfur dioxide is added.
The macerated white wine 'Eres Tu' Macabeu Finca La Despeinada has a straw yellow color with intense golden hues. The aromatic spectrum is intriguing, defined by aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit and citrus peel that blend with notes of hay and Mediterranean aromatic herbs. Rich and tasty tasting, with a pleasant softness balanced by good freshness and a marked saline character. Due to its peculiar aromatic profile, the Macabeu 'Eres Tu' pairs exceptionally well with seafood dishes from Mediterranean cuisine.
