The “Zagara” Moscato d’Asti is a sweet wine from Piemonte that originates from Moscato grapes, cultivated by the Marchesi di Barolo winery in hills characterized by medium-textured marls, where fine fractions prevail, namely quartz, sand, and silt, compared to the more calcareous component. The vines grow using the guyot system, reaching full ripeness at harvest. After a soft pressing, the must is immediately refrigerated and then partially fermented in autoclave, so that the carbon dioxide remains partially dissolved in the wine. The fermentation is then interrupted by refrigeration, contributing to ensure that in the final product there remain about 140 grams per liter of sugars.

This “Zagara” Moscato d’Asti Marchesi di Barolo reveals itself to the eye with a straw yellow color, characterized by some slight reflections tending more towards gold. The foam is fine, as are the chains of bubbles that can be seen in their evolution in the glass. The progression of notes on the nose outlines an aromatic profile, where floral touches blend with fruity scents and more honeyed nuances. On the palate, it is light-bodied, marked by a pleasant sweetness and a rich, lively sip. If you want to propose it with a perfectly matched pairing, pair it with classic hazelnut nougat.
